Whip up a wholesome, fuss-free dinner with this easy air fryer sausage and vegetables recipe. Juicy British bangers roasted alongside crisp-tender carrots, potatoes, and red onion, all in one basket, with minimal cleanup. Ready in under 30 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights, and naturally gluten-free (check your sausage label). A classic British meal made quicker, healthier, and even tastier in the air fryer. For gluten-free: ensure your sausages are certified gluten-free (many British brands are). Nutrition estimates based on standard pork sausages (22% fat) and olive oil. Values will vary slightly by brand.

Ingredients

  • 8 quality British pork sausages (approx. 500g total – look for 90% meat minimum)
  • 300g baby potatoes, halved (or quartered if large)
  • 2 large carrots, peeled and cut into 2cm chunks
  • 1 red onion, cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish

Method

Step 1

Prep Veg: Toss potatoes, carrots, and red onion in a large bowl with olive oil, thyme, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

Step 2

Preheat Air Fryer: Set to 200°C (390°F) and preheat for 3 minutes.

Step 3

First Cook (Potatoes): Place potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 10 minutes to get them started.

Step 4

Add Rest: Add carrots, onion, and sausages on top (nestle sausages between veg).

Step 5

Finish Cooking: Air fry for a further 16–18 minutes at 200°C, shaking the basket gently once halfway through. Sausages should be deeply golden and cooked through (internal temp 75°C).

Step 6

Serve: Transfer to plates, add a few rosemary sprigs if using, and serve immediately.
